I wanted to keep a thread going that I started about 4 months ago but when I went to post something on it it wouldn't let me so I have to start another one.

So here's the deal. I was out driving my 88 HB about five months ago and all of a sudden smoke started coming out from under the cluster. Now when ever I turn the blinkers on the heat hand and the gas hand jump up and down. When I turn the flashers on the heat and gas hand both go all the way up. Anybody have any ideas to what could be wrong. Could it be the wires behind the cluster?? I'd really like to start driving this car again but I'm afraid something will happen.

I tried everything I could think of to fix this. I check all my grounds, I've checked wires behind the cluster, I've gotten new signal and hazard switches and nothing seems to work. Do you think it could be the instrument cluster itself? If I got another cluster do you think it may fix the problem? THanks for all your help and suggestions guys.

 

try a cluster, it could be a cheap fix never know..

thatd be my first thing to try.

 

mine did that..only not... just start following wires, if skoke was coming out, then a wire is burning, and it should be easy ot find.

ppl b4 me had ghettoed some spaeker wire and it nearly burnt my car to the ground, if it smokes un hook battery ON THE QUICK LIKE.
