how can I tell if an engine is built?
I bought this civic hatch, the guy claims it has a fully built engine d16z6, i popped the valve cover and took some pics, is there any other way I can tell?
You can only see springs and retainers with the valve cover off.. If you want to see if it has rods in it you can pop the oil pan off and take a peek in the bottom end.
I doubt it is built. It looks like he rarely changed the oil from the top end view. How does it drive? You should be able to tell by how it drives if the engine has been modded.
drives pretty good, its got a jackson racing super charger on it,
the guy told me he has the blueprints for the engine and is gonna give em to me next week when he cleans out the rest of the parts from storage

Yes it does.

As much as I like to rag on this kid, at least I know what I'm talking about when I do it.

well, take it for a test drive. take the care to 11k rpm. if it can handle it then it's built. j/k. there is no way to tell unless you tear it apart.
weve established that eran. but a bolt on supercharger, is noit a built engine no way you splice it, a bolt on is not an internal engine part a jsrc is a bolton not a built engine
it has probebly had new rings and maybe bearings put in it, but i doubt that it has any after market internals. the jrsc is cute though to bad it is still slow.

hahah
the easiest way would be to drop your oil pan and see the rods that are on there.

if you have to ask how to know if it is built, i would not recomend that you take off the oil pan. you might cause a leak, and then you' ll have to have it "built"/rebuilt
the guy told me it was fully built by intec racing, and next week when I go to pick up some more parts for it hes gonna give me the blueprints and a whole file hes got on the engine
once again if its fully built why not put 100 to some better headbolt! man i really dont get this...
headbolts were my first thoughts in mind when i started to write down my build....
