So, my car is a crx and it keeps throwing code 12, egr valve. I know to buy one it costs about 180 bucks at autozone or something around there. Anyway, i took my car to my mechanic because i have to pass emissions soon. He called me today and gave me my estimate and it was 959.00 He told me that he had to replace some solenoinds and some other things that connected to the egr. Does that estimate sound high? Also, anyone who has replaced their egr let me know how it went. I own a haynes and think i could do it myself but i am just curious. Thanks

for $959 he better be replacing the whole motor with the egr, just do it yourself, you can try taking the egr out and cleaning it, that works sometimes. otherwise maybe hit the junkyard

 

thats exactly what i was thinking, man, its only a stock motor right now but i dont want to do a swap cuz its automatic, its my wifes car. But if i did want to do a swap, i know i could get a dohc zc or 2 b20s for about 999 or less. WTF?
