ok i just got a new ebay short ram intake and i see the rubber piece and clamp were wayyy too big to fit on my throttle body. so i kinda did a ghetto job and put like 3 zip ties to tighten it and put the metal clamp over that but its still a little loose. it came with like 2 mounting pieces but i have no idea where these would go so when i put it in i left the bottom of the stock airbox to lay it down into. it seems pretty loose and like its not in there right... anybody else had trouble putting these on or got pics for help? heres some pics...

pinch one end of strap in the clamp that holds on the filter, bend and twist strap to nearest hole for mounting

the long strap in pic, setting on valve cover, i didnt see the L bracket before, so pinch L bracket under filter clamp, attach longer peice to metal on car to hold up filter, and then connect the two together

 

should i keep the bottom 1/2 of the stock airbox or take it out for mounting like that?

You need to take out your stock box. That means air flow to your intake. See where the old bolt for your OEM tube is, unscrew that and screw in the flat metal piece. That is to hold the intake. Also take off the ghetto ZIP ties and go to home depot to get a smaller clamp for the intake!

as pathetic and easy as it is. yes take that plastic box which your filter is sitting on top of lol. good luck.

 

ohhhhhhhhhh god please sticky this thread!!!!!!!!!!!! this is so ******* funny, take the plastic bottom half of your original box out, as well as the intake muffler or resinator box, out


get the hose clamp off of the orignal intake arm (the rubber one), bolt the metal clamp onto the wall of the subframe to hold the intake on, thats it, get a knn filter and put it on the ebay pipe

dude please give up on cars...................................id hate to see you try to swap pads and die take it to a shop, take it to me, take it to the street racer kids in your area please man

 

Take those metal pipe strips (blueintegraboy will know what I'm talking about) (the ones that came with it if the're setup the same way) and just put one end on one of the bolts in that area, and just wrap it around the neck, by the filter - they're braces to keep it from flying all over the place. Just bolt it down to any bolt in that area and just twist it around the neck by the filter and slip it under the clamp that the filter has if u can to keep it in place better.

 

seriously, you're asking him to remove his resonator after he had problem installing an intake.

removing the resonator will take longer then it too to install the intake...

 

syndicate knows what he is talking about(this is probably the only time he will hear this)

and intake is the only thing this ricer has ever done to a car seriously tho dont take advice from this dip ****, do it the right way man, no zip ties, use the clamp and supports remove the stock air intake bottom half your done

 

ok for one take ur stock air box out completely, dont half *** it . also id say get a new filter ebay intakes are ok justnot the filters they suck id suggest knn .. also if u have problem with it being not sturdy such as being loose ,, ur going to have that most ebay intakes do .... because they have no area to bolt down such as the area underneth ur bolt where a strut bar would go hopfully u know what im talking bout. thats where most intakes bolt to to make them sturdy...

this is how you guys said to do it, but it doesnt seem like it will hold there it is just held by the bent metle strip that came with it. i lost the L shape piece.

i dont think i should remove the resonator box because i have no inner fender for the passenger side, its kinda like my mud flap...

 

remove the resiantor also, its loose becuase you zip tied the ****** undo the zip ties, and put 2 hose clamps the bigeger one you moron goes on the pipe and big end of the adapeter to the intake and the oem one goes right on the throttle body how many times do i need to repaet my self?

 

and get a knn filter on therre expletive

 

kid sell the civic or keep it stock. if your too stupid to install an intake i fear for your life

i see that the kid is 17, w/e, i was building motors at 17 and i was a service technican guess not everyone has a great automotive history

 

the only reason i used zipties was because the rubber piece is too big. i put the clamp it came with over the zipties and it barely fits! ITS NOT THE CLAMP! ok so anybody know where to find a smaller rubber hose piece?

thanks ill check that out. thats what i need. NOT A SMALLER CLAMP. ive tryed smaller clamps they dont work because the rubber piece is too big to fit on the d15z1 throttle body with the stock clamp wont even fit around the end of the rubber piece.

Just leave it. Your trying to put a Ebay filter on a 60whp z1 motor and your wasting your time.
