i'm thinking of getting new speakers for my 94 Accord coupe.
anyone know the dimensions of the speakers and what's the wattage on the stock system?

What level trim is it? The front door speakers are 6 1/2" and the rear deck speakers are 6x9". Idk what the wattage is on the factory system. But when i took the speakers out of mine they said 15w (watts) on the back. So im guessing thats max. But they can take much more than that i kno. Cuz i had an aftermarket stereo in before i changed out the speakers and they were taking like 50w. So there pretty strong. But aftermarket always sounds better. If you have an ex there are tweeters on the dashboard but i haven't gotten to those yet. They sound pretty good anyways so i wouldn't mess with those. Unless your looking to make ur system really loud. And if you change to an aftermarket stereo. Don't forget to reconnect the power lead to the power antenna. Otherwise radio stations will come in shitty.

Wattage doesn't determine dB level. Cheap speakers with cheap voicecoils, paper cones, and foam surrounds (like OEM) don't need much power to get moving...
Go up to Best Buy and/or Cicuit City, or any car audio shop for that matter, and listen to how to how the different speakers sound. Everyone has their preferences. I'm partial to Infinity or Alpine speakers.

15-18 W x4 channels front are 6.5" and rear are 6"x9". be careful what speaker you buy as some will not fit without modification with stock cover in place and some won't fit at all. factory speakers are single cone with a "whizzer"
Are you guys 100% that the rears were 6x9? I know I had to do some cutting on my back dash to fit in my 6x9s, though it just could have been that they were taller than the stock speaks.

for the high-wattage handling pioneers. I've never blown one up. On the topic of audio, has anyone ever heard of Advent? I have a pair of subs from them and a Rockford 1000W amp, they've handled everything that I've thrown at them no problem, but no one has ever heard of the brand.

I completely agree. I don't run a whole lot of midbass through my mids and highs, so it's not a problem with me. I like Infinity and Alpine for their clarity, but also because of their price. If I wanted to spend more money on speakers, I'd have other brands in mind.
Too much power going to your speakers is actually better than not enough. When your deck or amp is pushing out all it can and then some, there's going to be clipping and distortion. Speakers don't like this. Clipping and distortion kill more speakers than having too much power.

There's something about the sound produced by Pioneers that I don't like, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Personal preference, I guess. I've heard of Advent quite a few times, but I've never heard them in person.
