Car issue question… & need a shop in VA BEACH
Hey Guys,
I need car help… My car has been running funny and I can’t figure out why. Here’s what’s up.
I just moved from Denver to VA Beach.
Before I left Denver, I went to ImportSports, a local shop that does phenomenal work on tuner cars, and I had them install a Hondata S300 on my car, which it needed for a while now anyway… They also Dyno Tuned the car at the same time. For the first two or three days while I was still in Denver, the car ran normal and fine.
Then I took off to VA Beach and it also ran fine during the whole 1800 trip.
The day after I arrived, and every day since then, the car has been sort of “choking” whenever started up cold, be it early in the morning or be it when it’s been sitting still at the mall or someplace for a couple of hours. What happens is, the car idles very low, like it’s almost about to die, and when I start to drive it cold, it completely loses power around 2500-3000 RPM, with the engine light quickly flashing on and off once as the car chokes. So, it starts going, then it just loses power at that RPM as the engine light comes on for a second, it goes down to 1000 RPM and keeps driving… Whenever this happens, the car doesn’t die, it just “jerks” back a little bit, drops the rpm and then it keeps driving. It does this again and again until it heats up.
And please keep in mind, I am not at all flooring it or doing anything you wouldn’t do with it while the car is cold. I never rev high or take off quick with my car until it’s completely heated up.
I can’t figure out what it is and its scaring me. It only does this when the car is cold. There is absolutely nothing abnormal happening once the car reaches its normal operating temperature. Once it’s hot, the car runs good, accelerates fine, VTEC is pulling strong, it loves this sea level thing… but why is the car retarded when cold?
Some different things in VA Beach that I thought might affect the car: I went from Mile High to sea level… I last filled up with 93 octane fuel. I used 91 in Colorado because that was the highest one available. I don’t know if those two factors would affect it like this anyway. I also use the regular 10W-30 oil, I don’t know if I need to change that to other weight cause of the low altitude. I know that’s a retarded question but what the heck.
Also, does anyone know a good, reputable import tuner shop in VA Beach, VA where I can get my future work done?
Guys, as always, any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank You!
