Transmission Question
I have a 95 accord stock and i think im gonna hold on to it. So, I want to get started on tuning it up and i think the best place to start is the tranny since it probably could use an upgrade. But my real question is what do i do to it to get it performance ready and good to go for a h22a swap later down the road? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Auto or 5 sp?
Get the H22 trans along with the engine if you are going to do the swap. That is unless you want to go turbo too then keep the f22 trans because of the longer gears.
As far as tuning up your tranny I would just change the fluid when it is due with with honda MTF or ATF. There is some debate as to how often you should change it. I have been going about every 40k in my hondas with good results.

Okay, cool. oh its a manual. A couple more questions for ya'll....
1) the main reason for my inquirey is that when i shift from 2nd to 3rd around 2500+ rpm it grinds before it goes in. sometimes it wont go in at all and i will have to wait a second and then put it in third. What is this from and what do i need to fix?
2) If i choose to keep my stock engine does the advice still apply to the tranny? What about upgrading the flywheel & pressure plates & gears? Is it worth it to bring those to my guy when i rebuild my tranny?
3) How can I determine what engine is in my accord? I saw a HA stamped on it to the left of the exhaust manifold. Is that an HA for H22A or is it found out some other way?

1) Bad sycros (sp?)
2) If you keep your stock engine you could use a h22 trans for the shorter gears which should yield you a little faster acceleration and unless you are building up your current engine I wouldn't bother with anything other an OEM products for your flywheel ect.
3) If your engine is the stock one it will be either a f22b1 or f22b2 (ex and wagon =1, everything else is 2). It should be stamped on the block in plain view when you look down on the engine from above.

1)If you mean syncros then yeah, a friend that does alot of GM work said that he thought it was that. Does that mean that i need to rebuild the tranny?
2)I think I will keep it OE for now cause I havent made up my mind on the swap. Someone told me on another thread that F22s are better for turbos.

Anyone?? Should I redo the entire transmission? I looked in the FAQs and cxouldnt find anything for this topic. If anyone knows of any threads can ya'll post a link?
