Default Frozen Amp???

Okay, so over the past week, week and a half, we've had some seriously cold weather in the northern suburbs of Chicago. We're talking in the negative almost everyday.

Now I know this may sound dumb but I really think that my amp may have frozen over from being out in the cold.... I'm not sure, been too cold to check it out. But I couldn't imagine it being any faulty wiring, I know the ground is good and so it the power connection to the battery.

But I was driving one day listening to the radio, and the subs were working fine, all of a sudden, the song stops on the radio, goes to commercial break, comes back, music goes back on, and the subs stop working.

-No I wasn't pounding the crap out of the subs, settings were as minimal as they could get.

Any idea what it could be?

did you check the fuses. Is the amp lighting up. Probly just a fuse in the amp. Maybe the inline fuse went. (90 percent of the time that's the problem with an amp)

1000 watt kenwood, with 2 500watt kenwood subs, but yeah I'll check all the fuses today after I get off work, I knew I would have to do it eventually, but I don't see why the fuses would spontaneously go?

Edit: Actually, I think I'll go check them in about an hour, I have nothing better to do plus I wanna get to the bottom of this.

Yeah thanks, and I didn't want anything too overbearing, just something better than stock. Hopefully it's nothing, maybe the ground came loose *doubtful", but we'll see, I'm gonna go check it out here in about 15 minutes and report back.

Yeah thats almost always the case... Also don't forget about the fuse under the hood where it connects to the battery. I've seen those blow a few times as well.

Yeah amp is attatched to the box, and it slides around a little bit, I have braces for the box, but I've neglected to mount them.
