Default ZC transmission modification

I've got a ZC transmission that I'm attempting to make work in my d16z6 CRX. My plan as of right now is to swap in the side gears from an old DX transmission I've got, so that I can use the axles I've already got. I figure that while I've got the cases split I'll swap in the 5th gear from the DX as well so I've got higher top speed and lower RPM's on the expressway.

If I swap in those side gears and use the old axles that would eliminate the need for a ZC intermediate shaft, correct??

In order to do the swap for the 5th gear would I have to swap anything else or just the 5th gear??

I've been through hell trying to get my CRX driveable again. I bought the ZC transmission because the person I bought it from told me it was an SI. I didn't find out that it was a ZC until I tried putting the axles in and *tada* they don't fit . So I'm kind of in a predicament, because I'm literally out of money and I really need my car to be driveable. I'm not really worried about making more than 200-250 hp because this is a daily-driver so I'm not really concerned with needing bigger axles in the future anyway. Will this work?? Does anyone know of any good write ups to help me through this swapping process?? THANKS EVERYONE!!!

the axle holes for the ZC transmission are bigger than all other d-series transmissions. https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1 this is another thread about the subject. I just need to know what is needed to swap in that 5th gear and if I'm still gonna need an intermediate shaft if I use the old axles.

THANKS for the reply though joe

i would just swap the ZC 1-4 gears into the DX transmission and use the DX differential and 5th gears

the only problem is that something broke inside the DX transmission (2nd gear syncro I think). What all would i need to do to swap the 1-4 gears from the ZC?

just in case someone else would like to know: take the mainshaft and countershaft with the ZC gears and put them into the DX transmission - remove ZC 5th gears from both shafts (real easy as they are right on the end) and swap the DX 5th gears in
