most likely the starter however make sure the battery connections and grounds are clean and tight.

i was thinking that too...but when he had the starter tested with a volt tester thing it was shooting up but it took a while for the battery...also when this happens when your inside the lights tend to die out of color a little while trying to start the car...so were looking towards battery but can i be starter?

put a voltage meter accross the battery terminals, if it drops allot then it could be the battery. Batteries usually tend to start failing when it's cold, not hot therefore I still think it's loose battery terminals or bad starter.

The interior lights should dim a little when the starter is cranking.

couldn't you just take it to an auto store and get them to test the batter? i know thats what we did when we had starting problems.
