Problems passing emissions, need advice.
Hey!
I just took emissions and I failed. Everything checked out fine except for HC which was 2 points above the limit. I'm guessing I'm running a little rich. I just changed my oil, new filter, air filter, do you think this should take care of it?
If not, do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks!
PS my hawnduh is fast.

I thought the 79 Accords were exempt from emission testing.

The oil change can help, and fresh spark plugs.
Valves adjusted ?

that's the problem big boy, you didn't say what year.
check the timing, crack open the intake manifold and see if there's tar like sustain inside.
honda sells a "engine top cleaner" which could really help you out.
and make sure there's no CEL in the last 50 miles, even with a reset, the long term fuel trim needs around 50 miles to be adjusted

Do the Emission Warranty. Its for 95 Accords too. They will help pay for you emission repair or something.

ok well I passed it just fine today. I ran almost half a can into the intake manifold through the pcv valve tube, to clean the top part of the valves, changed the o2 and
took the filter and passed the emmisions without a problem.
