okay well its not my car its my friend and he has the same car but. he was driving once and he down shifted into second going like 70 and the whole thing just redlined for like 2 seconds. and the next day i gave him my greddy headers and my vtec solenoid and my valve cover. Everything seemed to work fine when we turned on the car and took it for a test run. It was running pretty fast too. But then he came back to me at night and he told me the problem. So everytime he revs it would start to make a knocking sound. Could it be the headers? or valves are bent?

A knocking sound could be a few things --

- Detonation (i.e. fuel igniting before the end of the compression stroke -- usually timint too advanced or too low octane fuel if you have high compression)
- Rod bearing starting to go (ouch - sound will come from bottom end)
- Bent valve or rocker (another ouch - sound will come from top end)

None of these are good.

the sound is coming from the from inside the valve cover towards the distributor. like where the left spark plug is.

Probably slapping him would be a good start for doing that

its not a loose valve because we tighten them and its still knocking.. and the car would just die after we gas it alittle.. i did slap him indeed.. on the back of the neck.lol but problem is still not fixed.. do you think i should just swap heads? and if so does anyone know how to do it correctly with pictures and everything?
