Default Whats my problem????

everytime car reaches a 1/4 tank of gas it idles vary low and starts stalling when i give it gas but if i leave it alone sometimes shuts off what could it be???

**** in your gas tank and when it gets low it gets mixed in and the pick up is starting to pick it up.

Very common in our old cars. Drop your tank and open it up. Clean it up if you can, if you can't then you can replace it since it's already dropped. I recommend either way you replace the straps for the tank and the strainer (plastic filter for the pump) gets replace, it could be clogged aswell.

X2... could even be your pump going bad. But thats uncommon. I would just try this first.

Could also be your gauge. 1/4 may actually be 1/10
