So, I finally got my civic running and went out driving tonight... but it still isn't back to normal. For some reason the shifter is really loose now. All the gears seem really far apart and neutral makes the shifter feel as if you could just pull it out. I really wouldn't mind that much... except that it's nearly impossible to get into the far end gears. It took an average of about five minutes just to get into reverse tonight. Someone please help me.

 

Do you have a adjustable short shifter? Check the check screw on the ball. If you just worked on the tranny or the clutch though obviously disregard this. HTH

 

I don't have an aftermarket shifter, and I did just replace the tranny when I dropped in the engine. Everything seemed tight and fine from underneath. I think my car just decided that since I fixed the other thing that was wrong with it, that it was time to make something else go bad.
