Default h22 mess

My problem is that when driving the motor starts to pop at or above 4000 rpm. It's a 94 accord with a 95 jdm h22a.

did you check your plugs. sounds like its breaking up much like a boosted car would if theres too much gap in the plugs.

Bosch platinum 4 plugs, new msd wires, new blaster coil, and new fuel filter, still doing the same thing. Once it gets to 4grand it starts popping, and my tach is all over the place.

Are you sure you got everything on the ECU hooked up correctly? I know that on 94 there are two wires that were different from the 95-97s. The EGR and something else I believe.

Yes, it's wired correctly. It has ran fine for about two years. I just install a new tranny and clutch about three months ago, and it ran fine for about 1500 miles now it just started this mess.

I thought it might be a wire or harness lose but I've checked everywhere and every thing looks ok. I've also done a compression test and everything checked out ok. I haven't heard of many people having problems with msd boxes so I doubt if its the problem, but if I have to I will buy another one just to make sure that it is ok.

check your grounds. make sure they are clean and tight. sure it sounds odd, but bad grounds contribute to a bunch of phantom ghost problems that pop up out of no where. just my $.02

It sounds like your hitting the rev limiter and your car is running in safety mode. I know prelude act like that if you try to hit Vtec before the car is warmed up. I dont remember what the fix is, but try searching prelude safety mode or something.

ditch the bosch 4 plugs. try a fresh set of NGK coppers. thats a $7 fix that might work. I've heard mixed results on the bosch +4s. that multi-electrode crap is just a gimmick.

check your ICM. Based on what you've already replaced, it's basicly has to be one of those 2 things. I think autozone will check your ICM for you for free, not 100% on that though.

ICM or do you mean ecu? It's not throwing any codes, and I've ran bosch plugs in every Honda I've ever owned, so I doubt if thats it. I'm thinking about pulling the head, as crazy as sounds I think it might be the head gasket. If not, I'm at a lost.

ICM is Ignition Control Module - aka part of the distributor, this is what it sounds like to me.

thank you!!!!! not sure about the check, but it is easy to do with an ohm meter. Bosch sucks . the multi electroieds are worse, because you cant gap them properly

there are veary few motors like fords trition v10 that require multi electroied plugs, but that is few far bettwen. NGK/Denso are much better plugs, hell even autolites are alot better then bosch. it seems ever other time when I do a tune up with bosch plugs, I am doing it agian in a month, because of a fouled plug.

I've never had any problem with bosch plugs, which has absolutely nothing to do with helping me solve my problem. Ok, back to the subject, I swap out hte map sensor and the ICM, still doing the same thing. I'll move on to the injectors now I guess. Hey 96Accordh22, is your firing order correct?
