Wheel bearing
Ok, I am looking for a daily driver/winter car to get to and from work. I stopped and checked out a 91 accord coupe lx 5 spd. The car itself has 190,000 miles on it, but it had the engine rebuilt at 90,000 miles by a certified Honda tech. There are some issues, but the one that concerns me the most is the insane metal to metal grinding noise that is comming from the front left tire. The guy says he changed the pads and rotors himself and he thinks that beating on the old rotor to remove it messed the wheel bearing up. To me it almost sounds to metalic to be a wheel bearing, it also feels like the tire is driving over gravel. This makes me think that it is a CV joint or something. What do you guys think?? I can pick this car up for $800, but I am not sure if I want to mess with it to much. I would rather spend the time working on my non daily driver
engine rebuild at 90k miles? That sounds fishy to me.
call around some local shops for prices on having the wheel bearing replaced and then you can use that to get the cars price lower.
