Default Just get a stock intake filter or a an ebay intake ?

Okay this is for my DA. I had full bolt ons and a mild LS head, but removed everything except for my cat-back due to smog. Now my stock intake filter is VERY dirty and needs to be replaced. I went to kragen and they were selling stock replacement filters for 20-30$ which I think was ALOT for just a flat stock filter.

Now I was thinking about just getting an intake from ebay for like 40-50$ with filter and pipe. But if I do this again, I would be losing that stock looking engine bay.

What would you guys do ? Where re some good places to buy a performance filter that goes in the stock air box for good prices ?

my friend got a intake off of ebay w/ filter for about $50 or so. So far it seems to be fine but like i said to him its off of ebay so that means its prob not going to last as long.

I really wouldnt trust ebay just spend the extra money its going to be worth it.

if youre going to spend $50 on an intake, you might as well spend the extra 15-20 for a k&n filter. the filters that come on those intake kits are awful. i argue with people all the time about the poor quality of those things and the countless number of problems people run into (ie, particles breaking off and going into engine!). let's face it, a tube's a tube, but the filter is what makes the difference.

speedyx u seem to just be jumping on the if it came from ebay its **** bandwagon. a intake tube is a tube. why spend $200 on a intake when u can get one from $50? unless u can explain the difference to me what makes the expensive one so much better and how something is going to go 'wrong' with the cheap intake?

Agreed about the tube part. I have an eBay tube, and a really nice filter...just don't put it on yet until you invest in a good filter first, before putting it on...

it's the filter which causes the problem... again, a tube is a tube (except for possibly somewhat better air flow through better design and engineering, and, rusting).

most the stuff on ebay IS ****

"you get what you pay for" (should be the ebay slogan)

U can get an ebay intake and it'l work just as good as most other named intakes, just make sure to get a K&N filter that's what really matters.

psh, just because your selling one..Anyways I have a DA.

On another note. So you guys are saying that an ebay pipe with a K&N filter would be a better bet than just a K&N stock replacement filter ?
