Removing a 4 point cage? Help?
I was wondering if anyone here has had a cage setup, which they have removed. I am in the process of purchasing a car with a 4 point cage, and I plan to remove it immediately, and throw in some rear seats.
Has anyone removed a cage which has been welded down ? what tools should I use, I haven't personally seen it, and I dont know exactly how these things are setup, id just like a general idea of what i am getting into
Thanks in advance

If it's weld in, I would think the easist way to remove it would be to cut each leg as close as you can to the floor, and then grind it down flush. Once your carpet is back over it, you shouldn't be able to tell it was there.
If it bolts in, like most 4pts do, just unbolt it, and call it a day.

If it is a bolt in cage,I would definitely seal the holes with silicone or have them welded. Otherwise, like Jeremy stated the carpet and plastic will cover the other spots.

yeah you'd for sure want to fill those up with some Silicone or atleast some type of sealant. If not you will get some water in your car when it rains.

I had a four point in my Typie. The quickest tool to get the larger parts out is going to be a sawzall. Then where the cage is welded to the plates that are welded to the floor your going to need a small high speed grinder. Just grind off the welds. Time consuming, but that's what you have to deal with.
Don't forget to remove ALL your interior or something is going to melt or catch on fire.
