I have my ITR listed on some sites and I am passively selling it. So the person starts off with an email:

Hello,

I have few questions for you regarding you car for
sale.

1. Are you the original owner of the car if not let me
know how long you have had it and since used it.

2. I would need you to take recent pictures of it and
email it to me

3. What are your reasons for getting it sold and what
would be your final bottom price for the purchase of
it.

Please email me only if you do have the car available
for sale or you do have any other cars to be sold as
well.

I will be looking forward to receive your swift
response.

location for a test drive process on the car and

as to make you reserve the car for me for not getting
it sold to other interested buyer's till the test
drive and the sale will be done as itwould take time
to get all of that done.

I will make a down payment of $2,000 and also i
will include the inspection & test drive fees which
will cost for $2,500 and mind you i want the
payment made out to you by check and also as soon as
the funds of $4,500 have been cleared into your
account i will like you to have the car ready for
the inspection & test drive process and also you
will make the remaining funds of $2,500 payable to
the transporters to cover for the inspection fees
and all other expenses during inspection.

I will be looking forward for proceedings to you and
also get back to me with the full names,mailing

I didn't call the scammers bluff yet, I just replied:

How do expect to do a test drive? You do realize it is a race car?


I am curious as to what the scammers reply will be to that.

I always get those e-mails when Im selling parts on the Recycler. I reply back to them acting like a total *****. I tell them that my final price is 1 million dollars, to suck my c##k, ETC. I once received a check for 10,000 from one of those scammers and had my friend that works at a bank check it out for me, he said that they were company checks that were cashed already. These so-called scammers need to be caught and prosecuted.

traceroute their IP in the mail headers.

David- I got one yesterday, same exact text... traced straight back to Nigeria. What a sad, sad little country, this is the second one I've gotten in a week.

Now if only I could get some legit offers on my race car

 

I also got an e-mail like that for my fish tank that I have on craigslist.
He wanted me to ship it to some country, Yeah a fucken fish tank... a 90 gal fish tank (it's 48 x 18 x 24). I asked if he would come here and pick it up in person and pay with US currency. I never heard back from the *****.
As for people who get taken by those scams... Geeze. It's so easy to spot them a mile away.

I have realized after the first email that you are a professional scam artist and I was going to keep going back and forth with you to see if you would reveal yourself, but I will not, I don't have the time. What I will do is pray for you. You really have to consider things beyond just this world. It is really not worth it to just gain a few dollars, even thousands of dollars to lose yourself. I figure my body and soul is worth more than a few million dollars so I am not going to sell myself to the devil for such a small amount. You really have to reconsider your lifestyle. God bless.

I was thinking of going back and forth to play with him, but I'd rather do my small amount to have him think about the ramfications of his actions. Hopefully, he will change.... Oh. I know that is long shot!

When these scams were in their infancy about 4 years ago, I was had for a fistfull of cash. When the authorities contacted me, they confirmed that funds I was swindled out of had been wired to Lagos, Nigeria. Not Toronto Canada like I thought.

This is a full blown industry that even the government gets a part of in Nigeria. Hands down the most corrupt network of hackers and scammers anywhere on God's green earth. Hands down. Anyone that disagrees should do some research before jumping to conclusions.

These are very wicked people on the other side of your computer, so be very careful as to not give up any info that could link them to you, including VIN numbers.

PS, and the thousands I lost back in '03 were related to the sale of an ITR also.
