Default Who here loves driving their R, but dont like racking up the miles?

Im sure alot of people are just like me. I love driving my R but hate putting all those miles. When I first baught the car it stayed in the garage, now slowly i'm driving it more and more. Part of me says, its just a car and enjoy it while the other side says its a rare car, keep it in the garage. You really cant win. I'm about to say screw it, drive it every day, rain or shine and hope it still performs and looks great at 150k miles. Hell maybe down the road ill be able to find a low mileage mint R to put in the garage and be my garage queen. Figured id post this since I hit 65k miles and it hurt pretty bad haha.

Im the opp...When I first got Wai's car i drove it all the time...Then saw i was racking up the miles...so I try to limit myself to weekends and only nice days.

Slowly but surely the car just seems to get more "uncormfortable" for daily driving anyway since I want to make it more a of track car. Only if I had more money.

When I had mine it was impossible not to drive it everyday. I was in a fairly "safe" area at the time and didn't really have to worry about leaving it anywhere. I'm sure that would be most people's reason for not daily driving their R.

At the same time I don't know how people own a car they love to drive but only drive it on the weekends, etc. I guess I have no self control because I would always want to drive it. I recently bought a winter beater Accord so that I didn't have to drive my M3 in the winter and I hate every minute of driving the Accord.

About 3 months ago I had the same realization. I was driving the R much more than my beater. So, I sold the beater and bought an expensive alarm with GPS and now I couldnt be happier. I really thought I was gonna be sick when I saw it in snow for the first time but I'm getting used to it, slowly.
Watching the ODO still kills me though.

I love putting miles on my Arrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhh!

I don't always love seeing it in this state though. I drove 5 winters with the R.

Thats Why I got this car for winter/mall duty this year. For $800 I couldn't turn the HF down. 40 MPG......WOOT. Starts up better than the R in the winter and the washer fluid jets don't freeze up like they do on the R.

drive mine every day, and LOVE it! if it were to get stolen and i NEVER drove it like %90 of the R owners out there, i would hate myself for not enjoying it. Rain, sun, or snow i drive it. It handles AWSOME in the snow too.

Yeah, I hate to put miles on mine. It has 46k currently and I drive it like every second day (it is just 2 much fun ). As a daily driver I have a 96 Accord with 58k (I really need to make up some miles on that one)

I put over 6,000 miles on my S2000 in 2 months, then didn't drive it for awhile (no time due to work).

I've never owned a car that I put less than 15K/year average on... except when I owned 5 cars at the same time...

yeah i feel the same way. when i first got it i hardly drove it. then i figured its just a car and wanted to enjoy it. I picked up a daily driver but only drove it in the beginning and i'd end up taking the R more than driving the beater. haha. With all these R's being stolen I told myself i'd enjoy it and drive it but keep it safe at the same time. I didnt want to pay for a car and insurance for it to be sitting in the garage.

and yes maybe one day i would want to get a mint low mileage R and keep her tucked away in the garage.

That is GREAT! You gotta enjoy when you got it, is what some would say. In total I put about 3k miles in the last year. I love taking her out, but I don't have a garage at my condo, so I store her at my parents garage. The houses are about 30mins away from each other and its a hassle sometimes to take her out.

I'm think about selling her and trying to pick up a 97 sooner or later. Even if I do, she goes back into the garage for a majority of her lifetime with me.
