H1 bulb problems
I bought tyc aftermakets headlamps and they take H1 bulbs. from my experience so far they seem to burn out pre-maturely. I have three questions...
1. Are H1s not that hardy of a bulb?
2. shoud i seal the headlamps because moisture is getting in (no evidence of water condensation?
3. Bad coupler connections?
Any input would be great, thanks

how fast are they burning up? i have TYC projector housings as well, and i put in silverstars till i can afford a philips HID system. i have no problem with lightblubs burning out. but i guess the amount of night driving you do may effect this.
idk if your having the same problem as i am but i go through silverstars like there vietnamese hookers. The issue is (as i was told) is that the bulbs have a very fragile filament which is easily broken by the honda suspension because it makes alot of vibrations.
?? thats my two cents

im not sure about this, i mean it would somewhat make sense if you drive on really rough dirt roads, or a highway with lots of potholes at an excesive speed, but in my stock housing and my tyc housings i have run silverstars with no problems and Michigan roads suck especially around detroit where i do a majority of my driving.
not saying its wrong, but if memory serves me right, silverstars are only rated for something like 150hrs of service life? (i could be wrong)

most of them do (the ebay specials
) but tyc is a respectable compyany and as far as getting projecor housing they are the way to go if you can afford/dont want to do a retrofit (retro fit is better, but is hard to make it look good if you dont know what your doing)
here is the order of quality out of the three i listed:
Best: retrofit
Pretty good: TYC
alright: Ebay special

i dunno, i bought my TYC projectors from a local authorized shop and have had no issues, fitment was perfect, and the quality to me comparing the OEM vs TYC side by side was that the TYC was made from better materials. also i believe that the TYC has better light output VS stock (personal oppinion) when i was using silverstar bulbs.
just for clarifcation, are we talking about OEM projectros VS aftermarket?
or OEM reflector housings VS aftermarket projectors?
and all the points i make are personal oppinion on products that i have tried.

This might sound dumb, but you ARE being careful not to touch the glass correct? I only touch the electrical connector at the back when handling bulbs, and often wipe down the glass with some alcohol prep pads from a first-aid kit just before installing them.
Also, when you remove a deceased bulb, does the glass looked burned, or is the filament just floating around inside?
As far as the filament busting loose, the cluprit may not be simply suspension, but rather wheelhop induduced by a spirited driver.
EDIT: Happy 1000 to me!!

Yup, that was the consensus I remember hearing on here.
tyc or not, for the price everyone just said retro it.

i agree, retro quality is much better, and i would have done it had i had the time and place to store the car for the weekend without headlights. but what i was saying is as far as non oem projectors goes, i believe the concensus was to go with TYC (again if your not doing a retro but want projectors)
