Default Engine extremely hot...

just got my car back from the mechanic from a bad accident. said he refilled everything (including coolant) but the engine temp is at full (there isnt a temp warning light or anything but the temp gauge is way higher than normal) is this normal for a car just after it gets worked on? what should i do?

p.s. dont really want to bring it back to the mech...hes really being a dick and would most likely overcharge me.

Have you checked the coolant overflow for any coolant? Definitely after the engine is warm there should be some in there.

Bleed the cooling system. Air bubbles cause overheating.

yeah, maybe the thermostat is busted. Try checking it.
Maybe the thermostat got affected or hit when you had your accident.

'Coz if the temp (in the meter) is way too high, your car should have overheated.

theres a sensor actually. the thermo could be stuck open or closed. i'd fill the raditor up again and check for leaks anywhere. if you can't see any and aren't losing fluid try to rebleed it.

well i took it back to them and they flushed out the anti freeze (he said the levels were low despite filling it up a few days prior but that it was normal?). seems fishy to me but its not overheating anymore so i dont know..

That just means that he really didn't fill it up the first time.

no it means he didn't bleed the air out of it. and it even says in the manuals to check it after a few days and add more since there is probably still air in there.
