CF Hood????????????
okay well i have a cf hood and well it has taken the same fate as other cf hoods...it has really nasty oxidation going on i've tried the 3M stuff that people have been talking about, but nothing...before that i took it to a local shop and had it re-coated and was cool for like 2 weeks then it started to fade again...my question is if it would it be cool to paint it and how much do you guys think it will cost?????.....i really want to buy a new cf hood but i'm afraid it will take the same path as the one i have
well could be a lot of things dude. If you bought a cheap one then you preatty much got wat you paid for. The way you describe sounds like the clear coats shitty which is a problem among the cheap cf hoods out there. Next to a lot of wet sanding a buffing (which will prob. only temp. solve your problem) youcould buy a new one or have it painted. I have a couple of buddies with painted cf hoods. but if your going to have it painted you mite as well just save the 500 to have it painted professonally and buy a nice top line cf hood.
Most CF hoods come with Gel Coat not clear coat. The gel coat is much softer than actual clear coat,i always put a light coat of wax on my hood when i wash my car and i always quick detail it with the car too, mine still looks brand new.
