Default Wierd Noise

Hello, I have a quick question. I have a 98 civic hatch, and there is this sound coming from the right front that sounds kind of like some metal on metal rubbing. Its not real loud but you can most definitely hear it. I am no expert by any means, and I have given it a thorough look and I can't seem to find anything out of place. I am not sure if it is a bearing or what. It only does it every once in awhile and it drives me crazy. If anybody could possibly help me out in any way, that would be much appreciated. I have contacted my mechanic, but I thought I could get a general idea of the problem first. Thanks very much

Does it happen while braking or just rolling?

It will happen when I am just rolling and will continue while I brake as well. But, other times when I brake or hit a bump, the noise will stop. Thanks a lot for helping

Maybe the dust shield is rubbing against the rotor.

Jack up the car and remove the wheel. Check near the lower balljoint.

That can also describe the sound a wheel bearing makes as it fails. Grab the tire top and bottom push in at the top out at the bottom and revesrse the effort. If the wheel moves in relation to the hub it the wheel bearing.

Also check your strut's bushings and check to make sure your struts are in good shape period. If they're bad that can cause the metal noise as well.
