hey, i bought an ex model instead of the si so i could save the money to buy a tsx swap(k24). i'm very mechanically inclined but i was wanting to know if this has been done and what are some of the special parts needed for the swap. my car is an 07 CIVIC EX 5spd. thanks guys!

really? the different dash too? eh, well i'm sure i could just get a k20 and have it bored out and sleeved to 2.4 and then it would be less trouble. i wanted to build themotor anyway, i just didn't have time to be without my car ya know. if i just go tthe si, i would have to be w/o a ride while all the motor building was getting done and that can't happen. thanks for the advise, now i know i will just be boring out a k20 instead.

Why? The K20Z3 is a better motor.

so what your sayin is that 2.0L is better than 2.4L?
what your just said is something along the lines of , do a b16 swap instead a b20 swap...

The Z3 is better for a normal person, but the A2 (i think thats whats in the type-s) is better if youre going to build/tune.
I await a K20/K24 motor build (top/bottom), would that even work?

Re-read my post. I was referring to his question about an RSX motor or K20Z3.

Not true. You can get around that by using the K20Z3 head and ECU. Swap the intake manifold for the Si's RBC intake manifold and use either throttle body.

Eliminating drive-by-wire is more of a pain in the *** than dealing with it on a day-to-day basis. Keep it. Besides we've got something from Hondata coming sometime this year. May as well wait.

Use the 06 Civic tranny. Most people swap the RSX-S's 6th gear for the TSX's longer 6th gear for the theoretical highway mileage advantage. The Si comes this way from the factory, so it's less work for you.
In all honesty, it's probably less work to use a stroker kit to get the displacement you're looking for. And unless you're using the K24 from a vehicle OTHER than the TSX, it's not going to be cheap.
However, you should be able to find a brand new complete K20Z3 head with guides for about $1000 ($2K-3K cheaper than a used and/or damaged K20a2 head). You can probably find a used K24a1 or something from an Accord for about $600 bucks. The RBC intake manifold runs about $160, which is insanely cheap. Anything else I'm forgetting?

ok, so, k20z3 head, any k24 block, rbc manifold(whatever that is). and what ecu? si axles, and get the z3 tranny or type-s tranny? and will the k20z3 head work on the k24 w/o machining? i thought the domed pistons would hit the head?

haha this funny...should have got the Si in first place....smart move never the less..

yeah, the K20z3 head is identical to the TSX. Even has that built in water passage to the intake manifold.
Shoulda bought the Si...
But, I'm sure the price will go down on salvaged si's soon enough.. pick one up and rob everything: dash, seats, drivetrain.. That'll get you around buying the 8k dollar gauge cluster like Hasport did.

i remember reading an article about how the k20head w/ a k24 block create great N/A numbers, i dont remember the exact numbers but it made like +30 hp and +20 torque. It had a detailed description to what pieces you needed from the k20 and the k24 and that the displacement is what opened up this hp. Sorry i cant be specific w/ the numbers though, ill try to find the article. It was titled k20 frankenstein or something along those lines.
