Default Quick Ratio Steering Rack

Anyone know of companies that make quicker ratio steering racks for the EK model civics, slow rack is boring...

Quaife (i believe) makes them for eg, but not ek
The factory manual rack is quicker, but not by much...

INCORRECT. the ek p/s rack is 17.7:1 wheras the manual rack is 20.x:1, way more turns lock to lock then the p/s rack.

best fix is to swap in 99-00 si front lower sub assembly. comes with power steering rack with much better turning ratio, beefier lower controls arms (improve bump steer), and sway bar already installed (no sway bar on ek DX or CX). ultimate swap wold be to use one from a CTR but it's not every day you can find a CTR at the local pick-n-pull. I envy those who live in the land of the rising sun......

you guys need to take some inititive, and make your own setups. i am installing a custom 8:1 power steering rack in my ef.... certainly not a bolt in off the shelf part. you may want to look into retrofitting a dc2 16:1 rack. it can't be that hard....

For those of you that think the EK gets the shaft because Quaife doesn't make a quick steering rack, I have some info for you that might make you feel better...

The EG rack kit they sell is nothing short of a joke. The Stock L2L is about 3.8 turns. After dumping hundreds of dollars and days of your time, your get a rack thats only 3.2 turns L2L. The Integra power steering gearbox thats a direct swap is about 2.8 turns, so why the hell would anybody bother with this stupid kit I can't say. Quaife really botched that one...

Also, the CRX kit they made that reduces the turns from 4.1 to 2.8 turns, doesn't fit the Si steering rack. Quaife didn't even know this when they designed it... What a bunch of retards...

I didn't know the Quaife was that bad? I thought it would decrease your L2L by a much larger factor over the stock DX steering rack. I think the EX rack does not apply to the Quaife unit.

I know that Real Time Racing does a mod using the stock P/S rack of an ITR/ GSR with a breather kit and some fluid.

The Quaife kits don't apply to any EG Civics with power steering...

Yes exactly. For the price, you may as well install a GSR steering gearbox w/ a loop & vent mod. Makes a lot more sense.

I only read one other review on the quiafe rack, by user litterbox.
He had no negative comments on the rack at all.

I am surprised to hear that the l2l is so much longer than I actually expected it to be...

Litterbox also sold it shortly after putting it together. I was debating purchasing it, but the L2L was a total put-off...
