Default need wider tires

i have a set of 5zigen pro n1 black racing, 17x7 i think, one is busted, the tires are 205/40's with a low drop on my teg, the tires are not wide enough. my bro hit a curb and broke a chunk of the rim. how can i get wider tires on without rubbing fender? or am i better off getting 16'' with 205's in the front and run 17'' in the back?

above: there is about 1/4'' sticking out

this is what happened with dumb driving and wrong tires....

215-40-17's should work on your 94 GSR depending on how low you are. Let us know how low you are before we start tossing out tire sizes.

Also, on a side note - when looking at tires, some tire manufacturers(sp) make tires that actually have a "rim" protector style tire when it seats to the rim.

Don't mind the tire I listed above but if you read in the tire description you'll notice is says:<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">...improved rim protection ridge to protect your custom rims...</TD></TR></TABLE>

As I stated above, let us know how low you are and then we can give you a better ideas on what to do.

The problem comes from dumb driving, but the tires are the right size. However, it's possible that your wheels are too wide for your car. In any case, don't let your idiot brother drive your car, and just stick with 205/40-17. That's the right size for your Integra. Anything bigger will make your acceleration slower and might rub.

If you're looking for better performance from your tires, then get better, stickier tires, rather than wider tires. For example, the Falken Azenis RT-615 comes in 205/40-17 ($93 at Vulcan) and will give you much better traction than any other street tire in 215/40.

true material does help grip but one of my buddy was talking about rolling his fenders to fit on bigger tires... don't know what that means but... yeah the guys where the rims were bought from said 205's were the reccomended size but what about the extra lip hanging out, are there any 205's with that rim saver style that will cover it.. i was thinking about those azenis but will they cover up the lip?

what you should look for are tires that have the rim protector.. what it is that some manufactures like falken make the rubber come out a little more to give the wheel a little protection from curbing...
