Default Code 9?

i have a 99'civic d16y7/y8 head.switched it to obd1.code 9 popped up and i replaced the distributor,but still throwing the code 9....................what to do would be greatly appreciated....................

did you disconnect the battery for a few minutes then connect it again?

YES,but i'm afraid to purchase another dist.and the CYP code is still there!
