Buying a car that has been staying outside for 1 year
Hello,
I´m considering of buying a Civic from 1990 that has been staying still for a year (in a country where it snows in winter). What are the problems that may arise when trying to get it running and ready for road(excl. bodyworks) ? I must change the belts and everything that it includes. Also the fluids must be changed including brakefluid+brake adjusting. I have heard that one possible problem that may arise with fuel lines and brakelines that might be rusted through. Anything else that should be considered?
Tnx in Advance
Henrik

After my car sat for a year and a half (1990 civic), a wheel bearing and ball joint were finished and the alternator was siezed up. Go check out the car, there probably won't be many issues.
I would suggest, like you said change the fluids. But change them again in a week or two. The reason is that the rust and crap will be scrapped off in the new oil. Kinda like doing a re-break-in if you know what I mean.
Please check your brakes completely, regrease the caliper pins too.
