So what's the difference between LSVTEC and TYPE R
So what's the difference between LSVTEC and TYPE R anyways...
From what I've read, and what I've learned, I know that the ITR has better goodies like a crank girddle, thinner in. valve stems, oil squirters, pnp head, cams, ect. from what I know the b18c5 block is the same height, the pistons and rods are the same (just made of different construction) the heads are the same cast. so on and so on....Basiclly when building an lsvtec setup your immitating a type r... IMO!!! So unless you buy all the type r goodies then install them on your lsvtec you end up with a b18c5 with the motor stamped b18a1 and minus the oil squirters hence "poor mans type r" I'm not hating, I'm just in the middle of building an lsvtec and it's a real pain in the ***. Like switching pistons, matching bearing codes, buying lsvtec kit ect, ect. I'm sure you guys understand.
I'm running
pr3 pistons (sir in canada)
pr4 rods (ls in can.)
pr4 crank(again in can.)
b18a1 block
Type r mains bearings which are Pr3(in can.)
Ported and polished head "by me!"
head decked .020"
all stock pr3 valve hardware
ITR cams
modified to 3" DP stock SIR ex. mani./
all arp hardware..rod bolts,main bolts,headstuds.
fidanzza FW
p28/hondata s200
Pretty much a type r give or take a couple of things. This set up better be faster by alot compared to a b18c5 in a civic, or else everythings for sale!!!
....any thoughts??

About $3000
ITR/GSR rod bearings are different from LS rod bearings. The mains are the same.
The ITR reciprocating assembly is better balanced from the factory, and the 87.2mm stroke is arguably better than the LS 89mm stroke when it comes to high rpm power. If you think that your LSVTEC should be faster than an ITR swapped Civic, you may be in for disappointment.

What if that said LSVTEC was bored to 84mm, running 11.8:1 compression, ITR tranny, and big cams?
