Default I need SERIOUS help PLEASE! =(

heres my problem please please bare with me

A person i know has a ITR 00 FBP with a 00 ITR JDM motor with 38K.

There are : red recaros seats,
JDM cluster,
CAI,
New brake pads,
Stage 1 clutch,
OEM HIDS
85% thread life on the tires
OEM gunmetal rims
And of course the JDM motor. (stock)

The bads:

The car hasn't been registered in CA yet,
Salvaged from theft (seen the car when it was stripped),
No front fender lining, (Found one for sale)
I have to push the trunk down just a LITTLE to open it ( not hat big of a deal),
No OEM deck but he's willing to give me an aftermarket deck that i have to install myself,
Drivers door panel's leather seems to not stick on the door inserts completely. like theres a line where the leather is poping up
No CF shifter boot
No ITR trunk mat
The front bumper, rear bumper ( bid scratch) , hood, and driver's fender all has small scrathes that adds up to the car needing to be painted over. The are small but it adds up.
The driver rear mirror has a small scratch
ABS light wont go off
Horn not working
Broken OEM CAT

Thing is i'm not worried about getting it smogged. I'm more worried about the body cause seems like i need to repaint since there are little scrathes. I'm thinking everything will add up to too much money so the car wouldn't be worth it. Some of the things are very small. The seller said that he will put the car sold for 1,300 so that the tax and regs wont cost much at all.

Price is 10.5K.

Then theres a 98 CW ITR with 98 JDM ITR motor with around 45K.

Car was repainted CW so fresh coat of paint.
Clifford Alarm
Interior is clean only thing is no OEM trunk Mat.
A/C

The Bads:

CARFAX shows salv title, when i checked the car the trunk isn't lined up very well. So i'm thinking it's been hit in the back.
No HIDS
Not registerd yet but was registered in CA so i wont have to do that much paper work.

He wants 11K.

Thing is i'm thinking that too much for a 98 and it's been hit in the rear.
HELP GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His prices are FIRM he wont go down.

what do u need help with its up to you, u ok driving a car thats been rear ended? you think u will beable to get these cars to pass CA inspection. hell ill say buy both. but that doesnt help you very much.

the 98cw seems good, need more info about the trunk area, no HIDs who cares about.

you have to find out what is needed to register a savlave/rebuild car. i thought once its rebuilt and passes the inspection your good to go forever?

now with the 00, jdm cluster, so miles are not correct(it doesnt make the car faster) brake pads who cares, clutch, what happened to the old one? OEM HIDs? what does that mean is it a retrofit? im picturing a 4 eye with the tsx kit.
the fender liner is no prob, just check to make sure the wires under there are good. there should be NO LEATHER if its an ITR, ABS light could be a can of worms.

you need to decide what are you willing to put in to have the car. to me the 98 sounds better, but still both cars are shady IMO.

the itr sounds like its been through alot.

i wouldnt pay anyone 11k for a vehicle that had some issues that needed fixing plus registration in CA which probably will be a PITA.

keep that in mind after you fix it reg it, etc. I think you're going to end up paying in upwards of 15-18k for a rebuilt itr.

Offer eight (either car) and walk. You'll need the extra cash to fix those headaches. Remember, in the end you'll still have a salvage title. To me the worst part of a salvage title is it's resale value. Repairs and go fast parts are the same price (obviously) on a clean titled or a salvaged car. BUT, if the car is ever stolen or wrecked the insurance company is going to seriously lowball you and you will lose out in the end.

Best bet, save a ton of cash up front or find a clean titled car.

you might as well buy my clean title, 65k original miles, 97 itr for 13.7k if you're going to spend 11k on a salvage 98 itr.

sorry dude i thoght the first choice was a Si. With any of those cars u might have to go thru CHP inspection. They may require receipts for parts that dont have an oem vin like the motor.

yeah i'd pass on both. seems like they'd be more trouble than they are worth. just wait for a clean title R.

i think that your being very picky and each car has its flaws. if you have any doubt about either car, you should probably go with your gut feeling.

if you are worried about paint flaws, you shouldnt buy a car with a salvage title.

good luck on your decision

IF you HAD to pick between the 2 of them... I'd go with the 98... A little body work and you can get the rearend straight again, not that big of a deal... But with the 00 and the ABS light wont go off, eh probally not worth your headaches... That would be my $.02.

Neither. Save your money a buy a unmolested near stock R. Remember you don't NEED an ITR so waiting isn't going to kill you.

Keep in mind that if the car has a salvage title and isnt registered in California it may need to be checked out with the chp. So that maybe another obsticle to climb.
