Default Ticking w/clutch released. Press clutch pedal and the ticking goes away?

Any ideas on troubleshooting this w/o taking the tranny out of the car?Not sure what it could be.

The ticking is noticeable w/the hood closed. but everytime the clutch pedal is pressed it goes away. Thanks in advance
