If it's been like that for awhile, replace the whole shaft, because dirt 'n **** probably got up there ******* everything up.

If it's only a slight tear and you haven't really driven it around you can get away with just replacing the boot.

What some people will do is tell you to take off the boot, clean it THOROUGHLY, and then put a new boot on it.

Depending on how much you drove it with the torn boot and how bad the tear is, the way you should go about it varies.

My understanding of it is that it's only slightly more expensive and a lot less work to buy a new shaft?

A friend helped me with this a while ago, and I recall finding out that it was very easy, and I think a new shaft was like $80?

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Id just buy a shaft.. then you have a life time warrenty and if they ever break, you got another one for free... just IMO. Better off to spend the money now, then later.
