Default Need Brake Fluids recommendation

Motul 600
ATE Blue
AP Racing 600 or 550

What else? And what's a good price on the one you recommend?

I like Motul RBF 600 because it's fairly inexpensive ($10-12 for a half-liter bottle) and its boiling point is 57 degrees higher than ATE - that's a BIG difference.

Here are the dry and wet boiling points for many of the most popular brake fluids:

ARRANGED BY DRY BOILING POINT:

DRY:401F -- WET:284F --- DOT3 MINIMUM
DRY:446F -- WET:311F --- DOT4 MINIMUM
DRY:500F -- WET:356F --- DOT5 MINIMUM
DRY:502F -- WET:343F --- VALVOLINE SYNPOWER
DRY:509F -- WET:365F --- MOTUL 5.1
DRY:527F -- WET:302F --- AP RACING 551
DRY:536F -- WET:392F --- ATE SUPERBLUE/TYP200
DRY:590F -- WET:410F --- AP RACING 600
DRY:590F -- WET:518F --- CASTROL SRF
DRY:593F -- WET:420F --- MOTUL RBF600
DRY:610F -- WET:421F --- NEO-SYNTHETIC SUPER DOT 610

ARRANGED BY WET BOILING POINT:

DRY:401F -- WET:284F --- DOT3 MINIMUM
DRY:527F -- WET:302F --- AP RACING 551
DRY:446F -- WET:311F --- DOT4 MINIMUM
DRY:502F -- WET:343F --- VALVOLINE SYNPOWER
DRY:500F -- WET:356F --- DOT5 MINIMUM
DRY:509F -- WET:365F --- MOTUL 5.1
DRY:536F -- WET:392F --- ATE SUPERBLUE/TYP200
DRY:590F -- WET:410F --- AP RACING 600
DRY:593F -- WET:420F --- MOTUL RBF600
DRY:610F -- WET:421F --- NEO-SYNTHETIC SUPER DOT 610
DRY:590F -- WET:518F --- CASTROL SRF

Use Motul or ATE, whichever is cheaper.

I use ATE because it is about half the price of Motul (ATE is $9 for a liter, whereas Motul is $10-$12 for 1/2 liter)

I'd use the Valvoline Synpower. It's not on your list, but it's probably 50% cheaper and you won't boil it on the street. I run it fresh at the track for HPDE's and haven't had an issue yet. If I was racing wheel to wheel like in ECHC, I'd move up to something better, just to make sure.

Think of it like this - buy Synpower and get a free six-pack!

Nuff said!

Just use that quarter you were recently given as a downpayment on a loan for the extra $11 for Motul.

hahaha.. thanks everyone. It's a good thing that "downpayment" didn't crack your windshield.
