s2000 faster with 17' wheels or faster 16' wheels?
are you comparing stock wheels or aftermarket wheels?
aftermarket can potentially make a difference depending on how light they are....i.e. rotational weight

Assuming the wheels weigh the same. the tire sizes are the same. It all depends on the driver. top end will be better with 17s. acceleration will be better with 16s. this is very dependent on the driver. there will be more surface area on the ground with 17s. this effects braking and everything else. but the 16s have less of a rotation will spin quicker. a lot of it has to do with how much power you are putting down on the ground. obviously not a lot of power 16s will fair you better. people usually opt for 16s because they arent as heavy. but i am not considering that in this post. you have to consider lots of things. like where you live. i live in pot hole land. you have to drop a car more that is on 16s to get rid of the wheel gap depending on your tire size. i think the car looks good with 17s. you could do the 16s in the front 17s in the back for extra downforce
Thank you!
I am intresting drag time best with 16' or 17'..
combination:
Front ---- Rear ---- Wheel
Wheel ---- Wheel ---- size
16'x7 (Oem) ---- 16'x7.5 ---- 225x50
16'x7 (Oem) ---- 16'x7.5 ---- 225x40
16'x7 (Oem) ---- 17'x7.5 ---- 225x50
16'x7 (Oem) ---- 17'x7.5 ---- 225x40
17'x7 (Oem) ---- 17'x7.5 ---- 225x50
17'x7 (Oem) ---- 17'x7.5 ---- 225x40

best motoring did a test of the 2 OEM sizes against eachother...AP1 vs AP2...
both had close times.. they then put the AP2's on the AP1 and cut a 1.5 sec faster lap time each time

That was also due to a wider tire.
Wider tires will allow you to grip more through corners and allow faster cornering speeds.
But like Madlion posted. It really depends on the situation
Drag racing between the 17's and 16's. The 17's have close to the same rolling diameter. So there are really only 2 factors left. the width and the weight of the 16's and 17's. The 17's have a wider tire, so traction would be better, and I'm not sure about the weights of AP1 Vs AP2 wheels with tires. There is some conversion that converts rotating mass to dead weight theoretically.
Road racing I would choose the 17's over the 16's regardless of the weight difference. Wider tire > Skinny tire

16'' and 17'' really isnt that drastic of a size difference compared to 16'' vs. 18''.
I understand the pros and cons of both when it comes to centrifical force and contact patch for wider tires. My vote will say its a drivers race. A car might be faster on 17's compared to 16's if the driver is more familure with the car and street/track.
For drag racing you want a smaller rim with large width.

There was a Best Motoring comparing the AP1 abd AP2 suspension/wheels, where the AP1 with AP2 wheels were .5 seconds faster than a stock AP1, and the AP2 with AP1 wheels was another .5 secs slower than the stock AP2.
