i just installed a set of rigid (jdm pads i got for free) of my refaced rear rotors, and i'm hearing a sort of grinding noise when the brakes are warmed up. just want to know if this is normal when you're using aftermarket rear pads. fyi i also heard some squealing before when i was using spoon rear pads

 

aftermarket probably using more metal in the pad rather than organic making it squeel more often.

 

yeah i've heard squealing pads before. this is different, it sounds like its grinding

 

you should not hear any grinding....some light squeeling depending on the pad compounds maybe but deffinatly not grinding.

take the rear pads out and check to see if something is touching the rotor.

 

i'm sure nothing was installed incorrectly, just checked it out. the grinding usually starts when the brakes get warmed up.
