why?

taking off your PS will not make your butt dyno any faster.

just take off the belt, if it looks old then just cut if off. then later when you decide that you want your PS back, all ya gotta do is put a belt on. and you will want it back soon.

if you dont and your sure then search for it, there is a thread that tells you how to make your PS rack and pinion a manual one, draining the fluid and makeing a breather for it.

apparently its easier to drive with PS completely removed as opposed to just taking the belt off.
i wouldn't know, cuz i only have my belt off, and i LOVEEEE itt

and there's no need to take the pulley off, only the belt.

im not taking it off for HP gains, im taking it off so i can have a better feel and control of the car especially under heavy tq steer

now knowing my reason for wanting to take it off, will taking the belt off do what i want?

so whats the diff between looping it and taking the belt off? with the looping system does it just keep fluid flowing into the rack so it wont be damnaged? does looping it make it feel the same as just having the belt off?

put it this way. When you are trying to turn the wheel with the belt off, what are you really trying to do? basically you are trying to push fluid through a pump that is not spinning/pumping thus making it hard to turn the wheel.

by looping the lines, you are essentially bypassing the pump and not having to push fluid through an inoperable pump.

if disabling the powersteering was a good idea, why would honda and 99.7% of all other car companies keep putting such a dumb thing as power steering into their cars in the first place. Even rally racers use power steering...just leave it on so u dont under steer into me one day trying to autocross on the street.

because power steering is a comfort item. 99.7% of people with cars will want PS.

Some use it, some don't...unless you're trying to say that 100% of all racers use it....which they don't. It's just personal preference, man.

On a dyno, back to back runs, I removed my p/s belt and I gained 5 WHP. Thats good enough for me.

I took mine out several years ago (looped the lines on the rack). It's only bad when the car is going real slow, like in a parking lot. However, if you plan to ever sell your car I would keep it in.

Most road racers that I know have it removed, but there are a few out there that like it and don't take it out. The ABS system is also like that, some like it in, and some removed it to save the weight.

IIRC, your gonna want PS for the "heavy torque steer"
