Default common em2 problems i should know before buying???

hey currently i drive a 96 integra. its great but i want something newer, so i was thinking 2003 civic ex. i dont need anything to fast (also have a street bike) and it seems like it is the perfect car for what i need to do.

my question is what are the most common problems these cars have (em2 2002-2003 perferable)??. i would just like to know so i can watch out for these problems before i go out and buy one. So far ive heard of bad starting and tranny problems??

please post your problem and how many miles you had on your car at the time.
thanks guys

The tranny problems are very rare, and obviously like any honda DONT get an auto, as they are weak. My car right now was 205,000 KM's, and it has NEVER been in for anything other than regular matienance.

Earlier ones had issues with the struts blowing, by 03 it was fixed.
The driver's seat rocks back and forth
The automatic transmission sucks, those tend to be time bombs above 60 or 70K, but from the internet, its hard to tell because who knows how some of these people drive those things.
Squeaks and rattles inside the car
The start problem you speak of is when the car is low on gas and parked on a non-level surface for a while.

There's nothing overly major wrong with the car. Just take care of it.
I had a lot of new car bugs before 10K, squeaky clutch, lose sunroof trim, etc... but once it all got fixed, never had a problem.

I'm not aware of any deal breakers.

I have an 03 EX, and i've not had a single problem with it, although it's only done 30k miles.

I think it's just the Auto tranny issues and a recall or two that are the problems. But recalls on 03s should have been done by now.

my 40k mile 03 ex is still having the same issue with a popping noise in the clutch even though I took it to get looked at twice, it seems to keep coming back. I really wish they would fix the damn thing.

my tranny is not a pos, it doesnt slip, it just pops. its annoying. it goes away after driving a while. the seat doesnt rock, the engine doesnt rattle at all, and my shocks defiantely dont pop. My civic is solid as hell its just probably the owner before me beat on it.

I have an 05 Ex 5-speed. I've got 52,000 miles so far.
the seat rocks and squeaks, I am 6 foot and 195 LBs, which I dont think qualifies as a lard ***. They "fixed" it 3 times, each time with an entire new seat track assembly, and it's back to rocking again.

I do have the clutch squeak issue. Seems to go away the colder it is, rather than the warmer. Or maybe it has to do with humidity. Either way it's a little annoying. But nothing turning up the radio a little wont fix.

I have no clue on the original struts but the HFP struts are great in my opinion.

The sunroof rattles from time to time as does the dash. All less noticeable when it's not below freezing out.

Other than those, it's not the fastest car but I knew that with gas mileage in the high 30's it wouldnlt' be, but it can get out of it's own way. It's fun on twisties even though folks go on and on about OMG they have no double wishbone setup in the front. etc... BMW's have always been said to be great handlers and they don't have double wishbones in the front either.

Let's see. I don't think it's a bad looking car, it's relatively comfortable, oh yeah and it was a 16,000 dollar car brand new. I mean how can you go wrong? Plus it's a Honda, and if it lasts the same 367,000 miles my 93 Accord did, I'll be happy. (we'll see)
