Default Timing belt install question ?

Ok so my water pump went out so I said ok may as well replace the usual parts and belts - So heres the problem I put the timing belt on and left it to get the ac and alternator belts well my friend while I was away decided to try and set up the timing belt he told me that the cam gear was off so he slid the belt off and put a wrench to it and turned the stock cam gear which would have turned the cam till it was pointing to up the up mark at tdc on no.1 with the crank which is at tdc aligned with timing belt cover marks, I also had a rod down the spark plug hole which shows it at the up-most point now . I also chk'd the distributor which is pointing at no. 1. I am just wondering if that could cause a problem with what he did ? I havent gotten eveything back together to try starting it and figured I would ask first to see if anyone knows. And this is a stock d15 with stock cam gear .

Thanx
