Default Roll Cage Plates???

how are you guys welding in your roll cage plates. They don't sit flush with the oem panels of course. in the past i've added another smaller plate so it can be welded. sometimes hammering these small creases help to straighten them out... so just curious how some of you guys are doing it.

any close up pixs??? thx guys

I hammer them to contour with the oem surfaces. With flor plates persay; i'll tack weld sections that touch the floor when the plate is flat, then hammer and tack weld as I go along until the plate is flush with the floor.

I usually hammer the oem panel, as it moves easier and is more pleasing to the eye.
Another option is to build a box for the tube to sit on. You just build a few vertical sides, with ends that fit into the contours, and a flat piece on top.
I have seen this done, and it looks nice, but in my opinion, it doesn't spread the load nearly as well.

yes was considering building a box like what you mentioned... i'm probably just going to hammer in the oem panels to fit like usual...

Mig welding is much faster, but most of the cages I put in are chromoly, so I TIG the plates in.

the Box plates are actually a pretty good option.
especially if you make the box attach up along the inside rocker panels and too the floor also. it seems it is alot stronger then just welding a plate to the flat piece of floor pan, because the rockers are quite a few different peices of metal joined together and the floors are joined to those.
