Default TDC issues?

I hate to post this twice but I trust the people in this forum more.

Iv been having trouble while getting the TB on once everything is set to tdc. It seems as soon as I put tension on the belt the crank will turn a few degrees. I finally have it close and still am iffy about it. Any siggestions to keep the crank from moving once I apply tension? The engine also has a 2 layer hg, could that be why the bottom end is a hair off?

Its hard to get an accurate picture of the oil pump marks.

Looks good to me, your not off far enough to be a whole tooth and that is the only posibility. Are you tensioning the belt properly?

Do you know if the head has been milled or if the block hes been decked at all? You mentioned that you are using a two layer headgasket. The thinner headgasket and milling or decking will definately throw off the mechanical TDC of the motor because it essentially shortens the overall height of the motor. This in turn makes the timing belt appear longer and retards TDC a couple degrees. This is where a good set of cam gears come in handy, which are needed to correct the timing and restore mechanical TDC. By advancing the cam gears a couple degrees you will compensate for the engines shorter overall height and move some of the belt over to the tensioner side and return the engine to the proper TDC position. Sorry if this confuses you, but I hope this helps you out.
