crank jsut spins
arite i'm trying to take my crank pulley off i put it in 1st and in rev but it still spins so i tryed a screw driver put it was in my way. any suggestion on how to get this bitch off?
Wait, you are trying to get your crank pulley off correct? Why the f*ck would you put it in first and rev it? There is a bolt that you need to take off in the center of the pulley. Use a impact cause its gonna be a bitch to get off.
What you need to do is to get the crank locked somehow, so you can get the bolt loose. They are held on with a lot of torque and I usually end up using a 24 inch breaker bar and a 2 foot pipe, to get it to come loose.
To hold the crank, the only thing I've found that works, is to pull the cover to the flywheel off, get a bolt thats the same thread as the bolts holding the clutch on, put the bolt in from the engine side and put it in until it bottoms out. Then reverse the crankshaft until the bolt comes up against the side of the bell housing. From their I've been able to finally get the bolt to come loose. I do the same thing, when I put it back on.
I have read that this is a no-no and that you may break the bell housing, but it's what I've done a number of times and it's the only way I've found to get that particular bolt to come loose.

there is a special tool that you can buy look on ebay its called a crank dapmer bar...it is shaped like the hole in the crank pully and its has a hole in the middle so you can get your socket in...it will hold the pully still while you brake the bolt lose..i actually just bought one myself and it works like a dream...some of the ones on ebay attach to a socket wrench some have a bar already on them..hope this will help you out..

you just attach it to a socket wrench it fits into the crank pully and then you can hold the crank still while you use another socket to break the pully bolt lose..its very easy to use and makes it much easier to get the pully off.
it holds the crank dampner still, and your socket for the crank bolt fits thru it , then you use an air impact gun to get it off. Or a couple of long breaker barswith pipes to extend them( with 2 people).
do yourself a favor for the next time you take it off and put oil on the threads and the face of the washer on that bolt and use a torque wrench, they are only 87 ft/lbs so dont overtighten it
that tool is how you do it. I was told you are not supposed to use an impact wrench on any of the bolts on the crankshaft. Those are the only two ways to get it off without busting your *****.

Thats just another H-T myth

the nut on mine was torqued on so hard that I couldn't even get it off with an impact. I ended up having to get a chizel and crack it off and get a new nut.
