manual swap done now wont start
ok guys so i finshed my manual swap a couple days ago and i turn it on for the first time and it starts right up. So i drive it around a little today and stop at my friends house for literally 2 min and when im leaving i go to start it and it wont start. It turns over and backfires a couple time but it just wont start. Any ideas? first thing that came to my mind was spark.
I don't see it having to do with the manual conversion. I'd check to make sure you have everything hooked up. Make sure that something hasn't unhooked that wasn't secured. It has nothing to do with your ecu.

well i dont know what it was but i went to my friends one last time tonight and it started up and i drove it home...any idea of what it could have been?
What's bad about that is that you will probably have the problem again. I wish things just fixed themselves, but they don't. Good luck with it....and don't go anywhere in that car you shouldn't go.
Kinda sounds like the belt wasn't tight and when you restarted the car, the timing belt jumped teeth.
Then again, when I did my manual tensioner conversion, it was hard as hell to get the belt back on since it was so tight, so I can't imagine it having enough slack to skip...

well u guess it...while i was driving today( to take it to my mechanic) it shut off then it wouldnt start so i had to get it towed the rest of the way. The car seems fine until it gets all the way warmed up. When i try and restart it, its still like backfiring but not loud at all almost like it sounds like it bogging or something any suggestions?
Well, I guess I should have asked you to be more specific...what kind of conversion did you do? I assumed you meant transmission. Did you do the manual tensioner? If so....I would definitely get back in there. You are very lucky you haven't torn up anything. Did you happen to mark your timing belt before you took it off? I know you don't have to when just changing the tensioner, but if you did, then you could at least get the cams back on the same teeth. If not, I'd take it(don't drive it) to someone that can get it done for you before you kill that motor.
ok well problem solved...i had my mechanic check it out and he said after it ran for a bout 5 min it would shut off. So he checked for spark and everything was firing excpet for one cylinder. He took apart the dizzy and found that the seal was gone and the distributer was filled with oil. Good thing the dizzy is less than 6 months old (piece of ****). So i stuck a new one on and then i was off
