so my fiancee picked up a free D16A1 from an 89 teg. I haven't seen it yet, but her boss is offering so us free knowing I'ma honda lover. I searched and couldn't find much about the motor. Is it even worth my time in picking it up? Or doing anything with it? Will I be able to find it or bold up any other D seires trannys? Any help or links would be great

 

I'd take it but its kinda the step child of the Honda family,not much it will interchange with.Its almost identical to the JDM DOHC ZC with very minor differences,will not bolt into 88-91 EF/CRX chassis,but does fit into 1st gen CRX/Civic.Head wont fit any other D series block,so forgot making your SOHC D series a DOHC.It's not uncommon to see these engines with 300,000 plus on them,too bad there wasnt more aftermarket support

 

Thanks. I keep finding more about the head not fitting other motors..i want to swap a diff head on this bad boy! haha. Okay, so I geuss thats why/how I'm getting it free? Not really worth a ****. Does it fit other D series trannys?

If your not interested in it I am if you could get it id be willing to take it off your hands, I have a 1st gen teg that the rings have gone bad and i have been looking for another engine. Where are you located at? Please send me a message if you arent going to use it, i would greatly appreciate it.

 

If nothing else, keep it as a back up motor. If you blow a motor in one of your cars then you will have a back up.
