Painting wheels, Do I need to strip them?

Default Painting wheels, Do I need to strip them?

The wheels are brand new, do I still need to strip it bare to paint it? or can i just scuff it and paint over?

what grit, 320? do i still need to primer since its not bare?

i just used sandpaper + primer, and it worked fine....

i just tried it, i guess its too cold for it to work. says not to use it under 70º, its about 40º wont take it off. just make it messy. did it two times, same thing.

Paint isn't going to adhere very well in that cold of weather.

i used 400grit, then primered.

yeah, i just wanted to strip them tonight. but guess i dont have to for the rest of them.

It can be done, but your best bet will be to wait until the temperature increases a little.

yeah. tried using a blow dryer, didnt help much. not going to do this inside haha

Yeah, haha I was going to strip a valve cover today... but it's below 30* here and I changed my mind because I didn't want to be outside in that and it probably wouldn't work.

I just painted my wheels today. Cleaned them up really good, wiped them off, and then let em have it with flat black.

all you need to do is scuff them a little... not even 400 is NECESSARY... I always use 600 because it doesnt leave any sanding marks but its just enough
