save your money. 500 wont get you much "real" power.

+1 on invadertrax, dont bother with those $300 intakes. you can get a 3" intake pipe made, get the bpi stack, and a nice air filter, some exhaust work, and you might enjoi that. as for custom ecu get it tuned/chipped

Header $310 shipped, the best for the money.

Intake $30.90 shipped (K&N filter is $30-40 extra and is a good idea)

Kteller exhaust piping, get the right 2.5" bends and have a shop weld it.

Didnt someone just do a dyno showing that a K&N style filter actually gained more power than and open air intake with a flow stack ? I mean the car was sitting still so i guess the velocity stack doesnt work as effectivly. Basicly i believe the conclusion there was that there was really no difference running no filter w/ stack vs. a K&N style cheapo filter.

Personally i would do an exhaust and an ebay intake ....thats about all your gonna get for 500. Maybe a carsound high flow cat if you can fit that in....depends on the price of the exhaust. For $500 theres not too much you can do.

I know you're interested in mods for the engine, but the first mod I ever do to any car I'm interested in wasting money on, is a good suspension (started with suspension on my last 2 cars). If your Prelude isn't lowered right now, you'll fall in love with it again after taking those corners on a sweet suspension ride. You can always do engine mods later, IMO.

Damn straight.

A good suspension setup is going to ba a lot more fun than any kind of power you could get with equal money on engine parts (on a 4-cylinder Honda anyway).

Why didn't I think of that? (cuz I did mine very last.) Do the suspension first! It will be a completely different animal.

I disagree. Eventually you will have more money and will want to make more power with the Lude, correct? Of course. Having a good tuning tool is the best thing you can do. While you may not make power w/o any mods it is something that you will want in the long run.

Figure out what your long term goals will be. Intake, header, exhaust, pulleys, is that it? Almost any intake will work. I prefer Iceman. Header? That is a can of worms. The best ones are 1,000 and up. Exhaust? Magnaflow. Dont fall into the Greddy or DC trap.

My overall advice to you is to get Hondata or Neptune. Most are familiar with Hondata. Hell, even the dealer can tune hondata.

You have a good point with the suspension.

Koni Yellow plus ground control springs. Its over 500 though.

Progress rear adjustable sway bar

I got Koni Yellows, Eibach Race springs, and an ST rear sway bar for well under $500 by looking around and buying used. By far the best money I've spent on the car.

Unless you buy a nitrous kit, you won't even feel the power increase you'll get from spending $500 on the motor.
