Default H22 install in F22 prelude, please help

Hi,
I am currently trying to install an H22 in my prelude and have had nothing but problems. I have everything pretty much installed and I have spark and gas but they dont seem to be happening at the right time. I bought and installed a brand new distributer and that has done nothing, everytime I take out the spark plugs they are wet with gas. Please offer advice for things I can check.

Take the distributor cap out, set the engine to cyl 1 tdc and make sure your are pointing to cyl 1 on the distributor, turn the crank pulley and verify tdc on all the other cylinders. Did you have to do any wiring to the distributor, (internal coil to external coil)?

you either have the plug wires wrong, or the distributor on backwards, do the what cparreno said above to make sure your distibutor rotor is pointing the cyl 1 at TDC, you dont have to bother with the others, if the first is right they will all be right.

The dizzy SHOULDN'T be able to fit in backwards, since the groove is offset......but I've seen some damned things happen.

I second the set the motor to TDC and check the rotor alignment in the dizzy, and double check the spark plug wires.

Let us know what happens.

Are both car and engine obd1? Which engine harness are you using? Search archived for many f22-h22 threads.

I figured it was a way to double check the firing order was correct, but yeah, you really only need to check cyl 1.

The only thing that can cause the dizzy to point to cyl4 instead of 1 on cyl 1 tdc, is if someone rebuilt the dizzy wrong, if I remember correctly there is a c-clip you can pull and you can move it 180 degrees off.

So, I got the car running, apparantly the guys who rebuild the head didn't set the valve clearances so some of the valves were always open causing no compression. BUT I still have problems. the car Idles at about 2000 rpm and has no power at all if I try and drive it pressing the gas does nothing and hardly moves. With the F22 ECU I was getting a code 7 which is the TPS code so I took off the TPS and the put it back on and that got rid of the code but it still ran like crap. I switched in the H22 ECU and now I get a code 6 (ECT sensor), a code 10 (IAT sensor) and a code 21 (vtec soledoid valve) the 21 makes sense becasue I didnt wire in the vtec yet, I also havent wired in the knock sensor or oxygen sensor yet. would any of these codes cause my car to run like it is?

So you adjusted all your valves right? Are you using the f22 harness or h22?
You want to use the h22 ecu, the IAT sensor is on the right side of the intake manifold (cyl1 side) make sure you got the right wire to that, if the plug you have on it is green, its the wrong one(the green one should go to power steering pressure).Double check your ect sensor make sure you got a good connection, and that you have the right wire to that(this one should be green too). wire up the remaining sensors. Once you no longer have error codes, what you need to do is set your iddle, if you dont have a manual , get one,but basically what will happen is, there is a service connector you need to short and adjust your iddle screw to get around 750 +- 50rpms, put a timing light on it, make sure, its at 15 degrees, you'll see 3 marks on the flywheel, -2 , 15, +2,.Because our cars are fuel injected, it relies on all its sensor to know how much fuel/timing to add. It can definetely cause problems, so you need to make sure they are all ok, or you can be going in circles trying to find the problem.Your oxigen sensor could be all thats wrong, but it wont hurt to get everything double checked. Good luck

"Double check your ect sensor make sure you got a good connection, and that you have the right wire to that(this one should be green too)."

Just to clarify, the IAT should have a grey plug and the ECT should be green?
