//// B16A PROBLEMS, PLZ HELP. (repost)
i recently posted about my engine running hott, or possibly just my thermostat going crazy. the car isn't driven much because of all of this. sometimes the gauge will sit normal at 1/4 tank for up to a 25 minute drive, opening up vtech a few times. other times it gradually rises to the H within 10 minutes of mid power driving. it varies when it happens, and varies how hott it says it's getting which makes me think it's the gauge. at the same time i have a lot of grunge in the motor which i have yet to run bc i just got the car so i dont want to risk if it IS getting hot. the cooling fan is re-routed to an independent switch, which i just replaced, but my friend says he thinks the fan isn't enough.
either way when the gauge rises even to the H, i can still immediately pull over and rest my hand on the valve cover without any bad heat vibes.
i took some pictures of where the oil/grunge is building up. im not losing dangerous amounts of oil in anyway but i need to know what seals to take care of or if it might be why its hott or throwing the gauge.
i love the car and im trying to fix the small things to keep it clean. not many mods to cause much heat.
b16a swap
dc sport headers/intake/exhaust
stage 2 clutch/lightened flywheel
4 wheel disc conversion
skunk2s/ls wheels
any direction is welcome. thanks.

you need to replace your exhaust cam plug, and distributor O-ring to stop that leak. the leak isn't causing your overheating issue though.
you might want to try and re-bleed/burp the cooling system again to make sure you don't have any air bubbles. if that doesn't help, test the thermostat to make sure its not stuck.

OP get a radiator cap that will allow you to vent the system without removal.
Then drive around and get you temps up to midlevel and then vent the cap.
If you have a lot of air then it is your headgasket going bad.
