I would like top know the OEM Type R cam spec. and what tis the max HP will i gain.

If placed in a GSR engine, you can realize about 15whp over stock on
tuned ITR cams, about 18whp with CTR intake with ITR 00-01 exhaust.
I think I have 165/125 on the wheels with stock I,H,E and modified GSR
intake manifold. (flows more at high rpm, skunk2 will make more we
estimate 175/132 on my current setup.)

The ITR 00-01 setup has same lift as CTR, 11.5 intake, 10.5 exhaust.
The CTR makes 243 duration, ITR is 240. This comes from the Intake
valve opening 3 degrees sooner and it also makes 28deg of overlap
over the ITR 25. This can be made up with tuning by advancing the
intake cam to +4 and tuning the spark timing to match the valve opening.
i.e. if you have a cam that opens the intake valve at 15BTDC and you
have 4 deg advance on it, it will be 19BTDC. You could also go to +5 on
ITR cams to 20BTDC. At this point, then you can set your spark timing
at 20BTDC. The suggested timing 14-18 setting is based on where the stock
overlap period begins at dead 0,0 cams. I have 22-23 in my CTR intake
cam and it pulls nicely. Having the CTR intake cam at dead 0 and hit
18BTDC, the valve and spark timing are in sync. This made 4 ft lbs of tq
whp just resetting to 18 on a 18BTDC cam, this took away .3 whp after
four runs no doubt this was heat soak, but it made 3-5whp across the
entire curve and 4 ft/lbs at peak tq.

Point of clarification.

- *All* ITR & CTR exhaust cams are identical.

- 97-98 USDM, 00-01 USDM, and CTR intake cams all have the same lift. Duration is the only thing that differentiates the three intake cams.

- USDM 00-01 has 1 degree less duration than a CTR intake cam and the USDM 97-98 has 3 degrees less than the CTR or 2 degrees less than the 00-01.

 

wow if u get 170 with only ITR cams and an IM i got screwed cause i only make 170 with that and more

are those sae corrected numbers??
