Default Shifter Vibration- side to side

I've started driving my car again..yes it's nice . Still have the problem I had before. I only have this vibration/uneveness moving from neutral to the left and back. No vibration in neutral or gear. No vibration/resistance when car is off. No vibration until I've moved the car. No problems going into gear. Does this sound like bushings or cables? It's more of an annoyance really.

so this is a vibration you feel in the shifter when moving the shifter from the neutral to the left? its a vibration in the shifter?

yes, it actually feels like moving an object along not-fine sandpaper, neutral to left. i'm not sure it's actually originating in the shifter because it's only after the car is warmed up (i'm guessing it's because of the rpm diff at cold v. oper temp idle). If I move the shifter to the left really slowly, I can feel an actually vibration originating farther long down the line. There is some engine vibration when I rev it up some in neutral/ accelerate. Could motor mounts on their way out cause this? Something loose with the cables?

I know exactly what you are talking about.. I have that in my 4th gen. Don't really know what to do to solve it, but I know my motor mounts need replacing soon. If I ever get around to it, I'll try to come back and let you know if it helps.

I was actually thinking it could be shifter bushings.. but, like you, I suspect it to be in the engine bay.

ok stupid question, if you disconnected the shifter cables, would that help you isolate whether the problem wwas in the shifter assembly?

if your problem is in your tranny there isn't a whole lot you can do unless you took it apart..

I have the same problem. My basic assumption is that **** isn't perfectly lined up inside, and when you're moving the shift for its rubbing against some moving part in there, causing the vibration.....who knows....
